My Awards & Achievements

2016 NZ Geographic Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
I am very proud to have won this award back in 2016. The competition is probably the pinnacle of photography in New Zealand, so to have won on the first year I entered was pretty special. The image was a unique (at the time) top down image of a flyingfish. The picture was actually only taken a few miles off the coast from Tutukaka, so well and truly in my back yard. Shortly after taking the shot, I was chased from the water by a pretty aggressive Bronze Whaler shark.
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the awards ceremony because I was away on an expedition to the Kermadec Islands. I did call up via Sat phone though.

In 2026, I was stoked to be a feature photographer in the Dive Photo Guide (DPG) photographer of the week. Some of my photographic 'hero's' have featured in the feature in the past.

2022, Nikon Dive Shot of the Year- awarded at OzTek in Sydney, Australia.
My extremely rare shot of a Football Octopus riding inside a salp fended off some tough competition to win this prestiguous award over in Australia.
